Update problem - error 0x80072EE2

I have just had to do a clean boot of Windows XP Home after the daddy of
all crashes.

When trying to update windows it will start to look for the available
updates and then it fails showing error 0x80072EE2.

I have followed the suggested solutions of adding the lines
http://*.update.microsoft.com
https://*.update.microsoft.com
http://download.windowsupdate.com

to my firewall and to the Trusted sites in IE but the problem still is
there,

Has anyone any further ideas
