I had to do a system recovery a few days past and chose to do it and keep my
files as well so at least something of the last three years was left. the
recovery was cancled half way through and restarted until complete

My system was configured back to manuf spec. with Windows XP home edition SP
1 and IE 6, it had before the recovery Windows XP home edition SP2 and IE7
Beta

when I access the Update site it automatically looks for updates needed but
fails with the following message

"To install updates from this website, you must be logged on as an
administrator or a member of the Administrators group on your computer. If
you use Windows XP, you can see if you are an administrator by going to User
Accounts in Control Panel.

Note: If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings
might also prevent you using this website. Contact your system administrator
for help with updates."

I am the Admin for this computer. We do have High speed with three computers
using it. mine is not the lead.

when trying to install an update manually, through the site I geyt a copy
error

"An error occured while copying file wuweb.dll / cannot copy file to
destination directory"

and info about clicking the info bar on IE to download Active X...but well,
no bar drops, and I have adjusted internet options around hoping to get the
correct config.

I also watched auto updates run through. It had 53 new updates and all
failed except for 5.

I am tired and know 2 PC helpdesk books from cover to cover

please help, any would be appreciated
Thank You
