Update Problems And What I've Tried

Hi,

I too have this problem but only Vista and the security updates won't
update. I have Vista Premium and run AVG antivirus. Defender and Office
updates do take. I've seen various solutions including one regarding
renaming the SoftwareDistribution folder and creating a new one but that
didn't help either. The updates took until December when they stopped
taking.

Any other ideas???

Search ntuser.dat in the Default folder: C:/users/default/ntuser.dat.

If ntuser.dat is not in that folder, copy it from
C:/users/your_user_name/ntuser.dat. Reboot, everything should work as
it should. I do not know why ntuser.dat is deleted from the /default
folder, but it happens.
