One possible cause is that the temporary folder for Windows Update contains
corrupted files.
1. Click Start, Run, type: cmd and press Enter. We can clean up the
temporary folder for Windows Update using the following steps:
Net stop WuAuServ
2. Click Start, Run, type: %windir% and press Enter.
3. In the opened folder, rename the folder SoftwareDistribution to Sdold.
4. Click Start, Run, type: cmd and press Enter. Please run the following
command in the opened window.
Net start WuAuServ
If the issue is not resolved, please try the
following steps.
Step 3: Rename CatRoot2 folder
1. Close all the open windows.
2. Click Start, click Run, type: %windir% and press Enter.
3. Locate and open the System32 folder.
4. Find the CatRoot2 folder, right-click on it, and select RENAME. Change
the name to CR2OLD.
5. Make sure you press Enter after typing in the new name, so the changes
are executed.
Finally, if none of the above helps, Uninstall/Reinstall the application.
