I have installed Update Rollup 1 For Windows 2000 SP4 (KB891861) at least
ten times on my computer. Each time it installs successfully. Every time I
run Microsoft Update it appears on the list of High Priority Updates. I
have read all of the messages in this newsgroup that have been posted about
KB891861 and have tried all of the recommended fixes. None of them work. I
have turned off Automatic Updates because every day Automatic Updates tries
to download and install this update. I just clicked on "Don't show this
update again" because I do not know what else to do.

How can I verify that all of the critical updates were installed
successfully?

Mark

Hi,

Please (re)install MDAC 2.8 SP1, MSXML 3.0 SP7 and MSXML 4.0 SP2 and
see if that helps on the failing detection of KB891861 (Update Rollup 1
for Windows 2000 SP4)...

Download links:

Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.8 SP1
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

In the 2 links below, set the correct language for your OS and press
the Go button. Then download and run the msxml3.msi file found at the
bottom of Web page

Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0 Service Pack 7 (SP7)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2
