Update server reported failure. Did it?

Using fully current Win2K, after selecting 2 items, update seemed to start
o.k., but soon an error message popped up saying, "Server(?) failed.. Maybe
busy... Try later...". So 2 minutes later, the 2 items did not appear in my
Scan results. However, they did show up in my Installation History, but not
in my Uninstall list.
Q.1 How can I confirm that they were installed?
Q.2 If not, how do I fix it, since Update thinks I already have them?

If the update installed there will be a KBxxxxxx.log in the WINNT
directory. Since you have not specified which updates they were, it is
not possible to tell you if they've installed or where to obtain them.
