Update on server2000

It's vacation time and when I attempt to use in windows update on a windows
server 2000 machine I get the following message

The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are
trying to view

Help appreciated.

That is a general error message. The specific error code can be found in
the Windows Update.log located in the WINDOWS directory.
Open it, scroll down towards the bottom for the most recent entries.
Either post back with the section of the log that contains the error
code(s) or, attempt to resolve the issue via the Windows Update
Troubleshooter.
The Troubleshooter can be reached via the Get help and support link in
the left frame; then click the " Try solving your problem with the
Troubleshooter ".

I just tried querying the error through the Windows Update Troubleshooter.
Nothing came up. The final line of the windowupdate.log file contains

WARNING: DownloadFileInternal failed for
http://update.microsoft.com/v6/windo...e/wuident.cab: error
0x80072f76
