Update SP2 downloading and Maintenancey

I download SP2 each time I use the internet . I have automatic update
downloading selected and manually start the update . Will those settings
affect the download or installation ?
Is it ok to defragment when SP2 is , say ,1/3 downloaded ? Is it ok
to run Checkdisk while 1/3 downloaded . Is it ok to clear temporary internet
files while 1/3 downloaded please ?
