Update for SQL Server 2005 (KB 932557) fails repeatedly

Hi,

I notice that SQL Server 2005 update is running repeatedly - every few
days for at least two weeks now.
Today I actually got a message that it had failed to install.
Previously I don't think I was getting this fail message, but I had
taken a screenshot of the custom install screen, and confirmed that
the same update ran on three occasions since then.

The Automatic Updates dialog states:
Some updates could not be installed
The following updates were not installed:
Update for SQL Server 2005 (KB 932557)

Is this update important? What would be causing it to fail? Do I need
to stop SQL Server service before applying the patch?

I have SQL Server Developer version. I also have Visual Studio 2005
Professional.

Hi,

I've the same problem. SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition (SP2) and SQL Server
2005 Express are installed. And also VS 2005.

So, you are not the only one who has this problem.

Has anyone a solution for this problem?

Yup, exact same problem over here. I was however, able to successfully
install the hotfix supplied in the KB article here:
