Update Stalled

Whenever I try to update windows, it searches for updates, then downloades
them, but stays on "Preparing to install" for over an hour or however long.
It never makes any error code or anything like that. When I restart
everytime, it sais "configuring updates" and it takes a while, but then I
search for updates and the same ones come up and hte process begins all over.

What can I do?!!

Tip: Temporarily disable real-time protection by your anti-virus and/or
anti-spyware applications (e.g., CounterSpy, Spysweeper, Spybot Tea Timer,
AVG Anti-Spyware) and/or any third-party firewall (e.g., ZA) before
attempting to install the update(s). If you disable the third-party
firewall, make certain that you enable the Windows Firewall!
