To whom it may concern:
I solved my problem!
Just a day before the update I changed my services-file
(winnt/system32/drivers/etc/services) to a new one, not knowing that a
lot of entries were missing in this file. With the next scheduled
reboot (after having done the microsoft updates) the OS started to use
the damaged services-file and that was the reason for WINS not
starting (and not the Microsoft updates).
I replaced the services-file with a saved one, rebooted and WINS was
working properly again. Then I started do do all the updates again and
everything is still fine!
