update times out

im at uni and my update times out on the network.

A few weeks ago it was working fine but now i cant use window update.
Instead it connects to site and when you download it just times out and fails
to download.

Is there away of bypassing the college firewall or something in order to get
these updates downloaded? or any ideas?
