It doesnt matter but I am curious.I have changed the automatic Install Update
time from the default 3am to 3pm every day.(It seemed strange to have a
default time when a lot of pc's would be shut down) but every time I check
Windows Update I have never seen one installed at 3pm.Today it shows Last
Update installed 7.06am on 28/03/08.
My question is what prompts Windows to look for an update (registry
setting??) and why doesnt it install any updates at the time you have
nominated?

Many thanks for your response .It amazes me how much good stuff is on the
microsoft web site if you know where to look.Actually the windows version was
in the heading .Vista(home premium 32 bit).I have selected automatically
download and install updates each day at 3pm and this is working OK .My query
was why are they installed at many different times but never at 3pm. I notice
in the screen shot in the tutorial the inslall was not at the nominated time.

Hi Rob, it appears that with Vista, automatically downloaded updates install
at shutdown (provided you press the right buttons) or configure at next boot.
I haven't really studied Vista as yet (I have it on my laptop). Sometimes it
just happens. No explanation - if it's working, with Vista, let it be. Vista
does what it wants.

Some reading information if you want
