Update window hangs

When I try to download custom or express updates the computer hangs.
Also it states requires verification - this hangs too - xpmce2005 is genuine
- has this only started happening since the genuine advantage ident. tool was
downloaded? Its possible as I haven`t seen any updates notified since then.
I was trying to download MCE2005 rollup 2 (KB900325) but nothing seems to
d/l now.
Help please.
