Hello JJF1312,

0x8007f0f4 -2146963212 STATUS_PREREQUISITE_FAILED Setup cannot continue
because one or more pre-requisites required to install failed. For More
details check the Log File. Update.exe can throw this error when it starts to
download if the computer is running under battery power (there may be a fix
for this in the future).

Good luck

Is 931836 being offered by Windows Update website and/or Automatic Updates

It's nothing to do with battery power (I'm plugged in with no battery).

My log just shows some cryptic error about GetRequiredFilesForSandboxState:

I'm getting the same problem. Doesn't work via Windows update (error
0x8007F0F4 ) or if I run it manually (tells me it's already been installed
when it hasn't).

This update replaced 928388. Now I'm not sure about the others but my
install had integrated the updates for Win XP up until and including January
2007. 928388 came out prior to that. I'm wondering if that is an issue.

Last tries by manual install and WU:

Yes. But you've installed KB933360 manually (or with an 3rd party "Update
Pack" etc.) which isn't offered yet via WU/MU/AU nor detected by the WU/
MU/AU mechanism as beeing installed - *although* the relating MSKB article
states, that KB933360 replaces/supersedes KB931836 (which replaced KB928338
and KB929120).

Check the file version of tzchange.exe on your system (to be found in the
\Windows\System32 folder). It's 5.1.2600.3180 with KB933360 installed.
True? Fine. You may want to uninstall KB933360 via "Software" in Control
Panel then or disable KB931836 as beeing offered via WU/MU/AU until MS
upgrades the detection mechanism. Your choice.

Bye,
Freudi

Can't uninstall it individually, it gives some error about trying to
uninstall in the wrong order (and no way to resolve it).

Also, this wasn't a manual install, mine was installed by Windows Update
back in February.

So I can't uninstall, or install the update over the top of it. It's new
just last week that it wants to install this update over the old one... since
February it hasn't tried this.

Which update were you trying to uninstall exactly?
Which is the extact wording of the error message you've received?

Then you're not talking abour KB933360 while I am.
Once again: Waht's the version number of the "tzchange.exe" file
to be found in the \Windows\System32 folder?

I'm able to remove mine - even though it says various apps & updates may
break - they usually don't.

Mine is 5.1.2600.3180 (xpsp_sp2_gdr.070718-1245)

KB931836 installed fine.
