Update wont install

Hi Group,
Anyone else having a problem installing update for Microsoft .NET Framework,
Version 1.1 Service Pack 1 (KB929729)? I've tried many times and the update
always fails. Any ideas? In spite of all the negativity here, I like Vista a
lot.

Hi Bob,

What happens? Do you get an error message?

Were you running the Service Pack update as an administrator?

The .NET Framework setup usually leaves a log file in your %TEMP% directory.
This is a plain text file which you can open with Notepad. If a setup fails,
there's often a fairly details diagnostic error message in the log file.

FWIW - only anecdotal evidence, I know - but I've installed .NET Framework
1.1 on many Vista machines (ie, maybe a hundred, by now) and generally it
has installed okay. At least, I don't remember any special tricks I had to
use. O'course my memory is not so good, these days ...

Hi Bob

This Update seems to give some issues to some. There is one way to get this Net update installed if you are having issues with it.


Follow these directions:

Download and run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, and remove the ..NET
framework 1.1 from the machine.

Windows Installer Cleanup Utility

Download .NET framework 1.1 from the Microsoft website and install it
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Reboot your machine, then install .NET 1.1 SP1 from the Microsoft website
and reboot your computer again. Then try to take the update once again.
