Updated version of the File and Settings Transfer Wizard (KB896344

MS Windows Update offers an updated version of the
File and Settings Transfer Wizard (see
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;896344).

I installed the update (WindowsXP-KB896344-v2-x86-ENU.exe) on a
MS Windows XP Pro. SP2 named PC2. After the update the version of the
migwiz.exe file is 5.1.2600.2665.

On another MS Windows XP Pro. SP2 (named PC1) I used the Wizard
without the update (version 5.1.2600.2180) to save some files and
settings in order to transfer them to PC2.

But the new File and Settings Transfer Wizard on PC2 was unable to
read the data saved with the older version of the Wizard. It
complained that the data was saved with another version of the Wizard.

It is strange that the new File and Settings Transfer Wizard is not
backward compatible.
