updated windows and now no sound

I just did an update for Windows XP and now my sound won't work. I have an
asus A7N8X deluxe motherboard with integrated sound
(http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/sock...d/overview.htm)

I removed all sound drivers and reinstalled but it didn't help. When I go
to the control panel/sounds and audio devices properties and click the audio
tab, it shows everything ghosted out and no default devices selected. Any
ideas?
