I just had 16 updates on my home computer dated Dec 9 (or 10) 2008. After
those updates I lost my internet connection. My wife's laptop which
connects through the same router (though wireless) which I have not yet
updated _has_ internet connection.

I rolled back my home computer and now have an internet connection.

Was there a problem with one of those updates ... or is this merely a
coincidence?

Thanks, Dave Horne

After the rollback, I clicked on WU and saw 13 new updates, so my previous
message with _16_ updates may have been in error. I'm installing five
updates for Office and everything seems to be fine.

I'll install the remaining updates one at a time to narrow down the possible
problem.

Well, I finished installing the rest of them and everything seems OK. For
some reason installing all 13 (or all 16?) caused problems.

That's it. All the best, DH

I experienced the same problem with my internet connection after the last
updates on 26 Nov. But I did nothing about it and just kept resetting the
connection after turning on the computer. Now I have 8 new important updates
pending.

Should I go ahead and install them and hope it solves the problem or is it
safe to do a system restore and try reloading each update one at a time? Does
a system restore only affect Windows files and not my own data files etc?

Rob.

You may encounter temporary connection-related errors when you use Windows
Update or Microsoft Update to install updates
