To get rid off a multitude of problems on one of the XP machines I decided to
do a reinstall from the vender (Dell) disk.
Most of the updates downloaded fine but I can't get these last 3 to install
so that I can get to SP3.
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 - error code - 0x80246007
Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.0 Service Pack 3
(KB930494) - code- 0x8007F070
Security Update for Windows XP (KB902400) - code- 0x643

I have tried varoius things that were suggested in earlier threads but get
find anything that works.
Thanks

1. Write down what .NET Framework versions are already installed before you
go uninstalling/removing any of them!

How to determine which versions of the .NET Framework are installed and
whether service packs have been applied
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318785

2. Now see Resolutions Methods 1 or 2 in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100

If no joy, see this related post by my colleague MowGreen:

NB: Since you reinstalled Windows, you may also need

Thanks for the help - I did all of the things you suggested and it was going
good until I get to installing the MS file KB902400 (error code 0x8024200D)
This downloads but the installl fails no matter how I try to install it.
The SP3 SP is zippin along fine until I get an error and it says it
can'tcopy file cbcatq.dll and won't let me make any changes to it except to
ignore and then I get the same message for file CLBCATQ.DLL
What I am thinking is that because the reason I started all this restoring
was because of multiple trojans, that even though I seem to have rid the
machine of them that somewhere lurking in one of the files is a trigger that
is repeling these downloads because they are the ones that would of prevented
it in the first place.
Do you see any hope besides a total reformat?
Thanks again

Error 0x8024200D = SUS_E_UH_NEEDANOTHERDOWNLOAD
The installer requires more data to be downloaded

Let's back up a bit...

Is Automatic Updates offering the WinXP SP3 machine KB902400?

>>>> To get rid off a multitude of problems on one of the XP machines

What problems were you having? Did you use the Dell Recovery CD to return
the machine to OOBE (like new from the factory) state?

Did you install SP3 via Windows Update or Automatic Updates?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed? What
anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall
(if any)? Were any of these applications running when you installed SP3?

Multiple trojans and hijackers from teen use - pages always redirected to
page selling spyware 'fixer' i.e. cyberlog- x virus scam
no downloads were allowed from any site or from CD and were aborted by
machine.
I used the install clean XP from the Dell disk when I had removed the crap I
could find and had disconnested from the internet.
Then I went to the windows site and started to downlo0ad all the updates. I
did have the auto updates turned on and downloaded them in batches that way
also.
I also deleted all the .Framework and reinstalled all of those.

I have tried it both ways - also by putting the file on my desktop and
opening it from there all with the same results

AVG Free,Zonealarm,Defender,
I tried both ways - installing with them on and again with them off - same
results

My Dell CD requires installation of the Dell drivers, etc., from a second
disk. Does yours? If so, did you install these drivers?

Actually - no . Why would that make a diffrence?
Not being rude - just that it never occured to me that it would matter and I
was wondering why it would.

Because the hardware needs drivers to work properly, of course.
