On Saturday 30 Aug I installed:

1) Windows Search 4.0 for Windows XP (KB940157)
2) Update for Windows XP (KB951618)
3) Root Certificates Update
4) Microsoft. NET Framework 2.0: x86 (KB829019)

and now my Outklook 2003 does not respond when I try to open it. The Outlook
windows opens but just sits there and doesn't load. Any ideas?

Did you run ScanPST to see if that fixes the problem?

Yes. ScanPST did not find any errors.

This is the second instance I've seen of an issue with Outlook 2003 that
*may* be related to the installation of .NET Framework 2.0
Outlook 2003 requires .NET Framework 1.1 as a runtime.

Would you please run the .NET Framework Setup Verification Tool:
http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archi...3/8015158.aspx

Post back with what it finds for the installed .NET Frameworks, marct59.

Also, is the Business Contacts Manager installed ?

The Verification tool verified 1.0, 1.1 2.0 as being installed. Also, while I
have Office Professional 2003 on my pc, Business Contacts Manager is not
installed.

Thanks for the information. Another poster reported that an issue with
Business Contacts Manager was preventing Outlook from loading after
installing .NET 2.

If you uninstall Microsoft. NET Framework 2.0: x86 (KB829019), does that
get Outlook working again ?
