Updates configured wrongly

I can't install any updates, pretty much, for last 3 months. No antivirus,
that'ld interfere.
After restarting it just keeps saying that upds weren't configured
correctly. So I keep hiding them

Windows version (e.g., Vista SP1; WinXP SP3)? Post the complete error
message.
