Updates continuously fail to install

Notification that a number of updates are ready for installation, however
when performing the install, I keep getting notification that update was
UNABLE to install the upddates.
No particular error codes or anything, just that it was unable to
successfully install.

The annoying bit is that I can't get rid of the little notifying thingy in
the task bar which keeps telling me to install the updates but when trying
they just keep failing..

How frustrating, any suggestions ???

I totally sympathize, but I've got the same thing happening with the KB895658
junk mail filter. I'm forever getting alerts that I need to download (the
same) updates, but after going through the entire routine, all I ever get is
"failed to install" messages.

TWENTY-FOUR TIMES it has happened so far!!!

In fact, the problem began with Security Update KB899587. Prior to that,
automatic update worked fine.

i have the same problem as well. I did get an error message of 0X80070003 but
that isn't on the troubleshooting list at all. I'm also having with my
antivirus program. Is it possible that a virus could be disabling both from
working properly? Anyone out there with a solution?

You Cannot Install Some Updates or Programs

When you use the Windows Update Web site to install updates, the installation fails
and the Windows Update.log file contains error 80070643.

The only way to stop the thingy is to go to updates and uncheck the updates!
I have exactly the same problem. Has anyone got the solution at all?
I have not been able to update Office 2003 for some time now.
Like yourself- continuous failure

I have exactly the same issue. I get an error message unable to install
Office 2003 update and no other errors. I have down loaded the entire update
and tried to install it and get the same results.
