updates download but fail to install

I don't know for sure but prior to sp3 I was able to apply updates from the
windows update site. Now the updates are downloading but fail to apply. I
have tried updated drivers, media player 11, .net 1.1, etc. This is with a
new install. I applied a few updates without issues, then went back and the
site wanted to push sp3 so I accepted. Now I can't update, sorry to repeat


I stopped the automatic update service, cleared the software distribution
folder, and have start it again with no success.

Any ideas? Thanks

Searching the groups before posting in the future might give you faster
results (yes - faster than even this...)

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP
installation

(Ignore the title - it may fix your problem reguardless of how you got to
