I have tried to update my system with some critical updates 4 times and I
keep getting Download failed on all of them (about 29 of them). I have
written to MS support which I believe is located in India (like everyone else
is doing) and was given a batch file to install by the name of "CMDS". I
successfully installed this file and ran it. It did it's thing for about 30
seconds and took me back to the update download site to try again - which I
did. I got the same results and notified the MS expert. He told me I'll have
to do a system "repair" from the XP disk because the "brain trust" at MS made
some changes to the OS and now we have to jump through more hoops to get our
machines back. Has anybody else run into this "buzz saw"?

How to view the Update log in Windows

Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type %windir%\windowsupdate.log, and then click OK.

Scroll down towards the bottom for the latest entries to locate the error code(s)
associated with the latest failed attempt to download.

If appropriate copy and paste the last few lines associated with the error messages
into this post and maybe someone can assist you further.

How to read the Windowsupdate.log file:

OK. Here is the last error lines in that file: if this makes sense for
anyone (It sure doesn't for me) I would appreciate any information of what is
going wrong. Thanks.
