Hi. First time asking a question like this so bear with me please. I am
running Vista on a fairly high spec laptop with plenty of memory. I have
windows updates set to automatic. Over the last year or so my machine has
attempted to install 157 updates. Initially there seemed to be no problem but
in the last six months I have been getting multiple failed updates with
various error messages. Of the 157 updates so far, 90 have failed. Most are
labelled "Important" or "Recommended". I have tried using search and find
with the error message numbers but not really got anywhere. I am at the limit
of my expertise here!! Any suggestions please?

There are *not* that many updates for Windows Vista - are you certain that
is the Operating System you are running? (Not to mention that for 'public
consumption' - Windows Vista is just under 10 months old.)

Ah! No, they are not all operating system updates. Some are for Outlook, MS
Office etc, but there are several labelled "Windows Vista" which have not
worked. One example has the number KB941649 attached to it. (And yes, you are
right, I bought the system in April so it is n ot as old as I thought!!)
Thanks
