We have 2 computers in the house, both using 56k dial up and plan to wait
for the CD version of SP2.
My computer is current using Windows update for an XP Home installation.
My son is doing a clean install of XP Home w/SP1 while installing a new
drive.
We have the October security CD which takes him through the Oct 15, 2003
updates.

We have access to a high speed connection in a different location (not our
computers) and want to download the remaining pre-SP2 updates. He will burn
them a on a CD and install prior to going on-line for a final update check.

How can we get a definitive list of which files to download from the windows
Update Catalog to make this happen. For security reasons we want to do this
before going online to Windows Update. Running Update on my computer is of
no value, since I get nothing to install.

Thanks.

With DIAL UP it will take you about three hours to install SP 2, and will
probably time out on you.
I can't believe that a lot of people in the U.S. are still using DIAL UP !!!!!

First- I said I would get the download from a broadband connection. That is
why I want to know which downloads to get to have an up to date system
(until the SP2 CD is availaable.

Second- I use dial-up because shifting to broadband would about double my
cost and I can't afford it

You can download Service Pack 2 from here
http://www.download.com/Windows-XP-S...-10308947.html
burn it to disk, & install it where you need it.
