Hello,

I have been having some problems with windows update for almost 2 yrs. All
the updates that try to install fails and gives me the error code: 800719E4.
I tried to install about 45 updates just today and every single one failed
and gave this error code. At first I was thinking that my internet security
program might have put up a firewall and blocked those, but that isn't the
case. I have looked over the other discussions about this problem but they
don't seem to help me. I was told that I may need the system update Service
Pack 1 for Windows Vista before it will work. I tried installing that, but
that too fails. After all these attempts to fix this, I've hit a brick wall.
Can someone please help me on this?? I have a Windows Vista, HP computer.
Please someone help me?!!!

Casey,

800719E4 ERROR_LOG_FULL
Log space is exhausted

Surely you're kidding, right ? You waited almost 2 years to post this ?
While the system was under warranty HP would have assisted you in
resolving the updating issue for *no charge*.

I hope you're not doing any online banking or any other financial
transactions on this system as in all likelihood, all of your
information now belongs to a hacker or cybercriminal.

Your best recourse at this point in time is to format the Hard Drive and
reinstall Vista. Then download the full standalone Service Pack 1 and
*save* it.
Do the same for SP2.
Install SP1 with all of the required restarts; do the same for SP2.
And no, you can't skip SP1 and install SP2.
Why ? Ask Microsoft.

Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Five Language Standalone (KB936330)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...9-cb3d06d12674

Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 and Windows Vista Service Pack 2 -
Five Language Standalone (KB948465)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...2-a5c3199ea2b3

IF the installation media that HP supplied included a Trial antivirus or
"security program" (*especially a Norton or McAfee "product"*) or the
hidden restore partition reinstalls it, then uninstall it after
reinstalling Vista *before* applying SP1 and SP2.

After doing the above, install a free AV that is compatible with Vista.
Avast and AntiVir are 2 such products.
And, *never* wait almost 2 years to post issues about updating Vista,
please.

Back-up any personal data (none of which should be considered 100%
trustworthy at this point) then do a format & clean install of Windows.
Please note that a Repair Install (AKA in-place upgrade) will NOT fix this!

Help: I Got Hacked. Now What Do I Do?
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../cc700813.aspx

HOW TO do a clean install of Vista: See the "If you want to reinstall
Windows Vista by performing a clean installation..." section of
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...ista#section_3

After the clean install, you'll have the equivalent of a "new computer" so
take care of everything on the following page before otherwise connecting
the machine to the internet or a network and before using a USB key that
isn't brand-new or hasn't been freshly formatted:

5 steps to help protect your new computer before you go online

NB: Any Norton or McAfee free-trial that came preinstalled on the computer
when you bought it will be reinstalled (but invalid) when Windows is
reinstalled. You MUST uninstall the free-trial and download/run the
appropriate removal tool before installing any Windows Service Packs or IE
upgrades and before installing your new anti-virus application.

McAfee Consumer Products Removal Tool
