I am having this problem too, although my record shows they have been
successfully installed every day since they started in mid-December.

I have turned off the automatic downloading and installation of security
updates and asked to see all updates not yet installed. The system listed 12
plus the problem 2. I have now installed the missing 12 updates and I have
told the system I don't want the problem 2. My concern is that the problem 2
have apparently been blocking the arrival of subsequent critical updates over
a period of about 2 months.

Can someone sort it out please?

I'm having the same problem. It "successfully" installs on my machine, but
then the automatic update keeps downloading it and says it needs to be
installed.

Have followed advice - files were not installed so tried to run the 2 updates
that I had saved to my desktop. Couldn't run them - got an error message as
follows: Failure Code Ox80246007

Any advice on how to proceed now please?

Carol,

There is NO need to install KB925672. KB927978 supercedes it.
Are either of the updates listed in Add/Remove Programs in the Control
Panel ? [Make sure that the 'Show updates' box is checked at the top]

Did you download KB927978 manually, save it, and then attempt to install
it ?
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
If not suggest you attempt that. When you do, ***make sure*** that the
system is RESTARTED PRIOR to attempting to install it.
If 3 options are presented, Modify/Repair/Remove, choose Remove.
If you are prompted to, restart the system.
If not, run msxml4-KB927978-enu.exe once more and it *should* install.
If yes, then restart and then run msxml4-KB927978-enu.exe

Dear MowGreen,

Thank you! I followed your instructions to the letter and, although I
cannot find the KB927978 listed as installed on my PC, Windows update now no
longer tries to offer it as one I should download. KB 925672 is also no
longer offered, so it looks as if you have solved my problem.

Many thanks once again.

You're most welcome, Carol. Glad it's installed, the system is
protected, and it's no longer being reoffered.
Nice job getting it installed. Good show ! <w>

Dear Sage,

I had an 'Access denied' message that appeared (I think) when I tried to run
the programme. It followed the page where you are asked about which account
you want to use. There was a box below my account name that had a warning
about running some kind of software - I just unticked the box and that solved
the 'access denied' problem as I recall.

I'm sure MowGreen can give you a better answer though, as I am very much an
amateur!

All the best,
Carol
