Since August I have had 2 updates that will "install" and then the next time
I start up the windows update program pops up informing me that I have new
updates. What can I do to either install them properly (preferred) or to stop
the notifications?
The Updates are as follows:
KB936181
KB941833

I am having the same problem with this same OS. After searching for a
solution and after trying all but uninstalling are reinstalling software on a
computer that is only a month old. I am at my wits end. The repeated
statement is that its a firewall or antivirus software issue, in my onpinon
this is the case. I have turned them all off, installed and uninstalled
Norton 360 and also Live one care, and even unsecured my wireless router as
well as directly conecting hard wire all still with the same results. The
other thing is that the window defender will also not allow the updates to be
installed? All of my other non MS software seams to update without issue. Any
Ideas. The forced to Vist users would like to know.

Who needs anti-virus software when you need anti-microsoft software?

Windows Defender error code 0x8024402f
Windows Update error code 8024402C

Thanks,

A1. See the Known Issues section http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936181;
also see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941729/

A2. KB941833 might install now; otherwise see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941833 for manual installation instructions
& links.

I download th KB941833 to desktop...open and run as administrator...setup
wizard gives three options, "modify", "repair", Remove"...I choose
"repair"...wizard finishes and I reboot...then try to download and install
the KB936181...no luck "update are available" comes back up with the KB936181
download reccomended.

I am at my wits end on how to stop this. How can I make sure that I have
the Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML) 4.0 installed. When I search
hardrive I get no match of this.

Thanks

I cannot post a "new" thread using this machine and operating Windows Vista
Home Premium, I can only "reply" to previous ones...I can at work on my
machine that runs XP, so there is another "issue" with this system...This
response was directly related to the KB941833 update and insuing problems...
PA Bear has told me twice to start a new thread but not given any useful
answers...Microsoft and the Windows Vista product lives up to it's reputation
of SUCKING!!!...By the time they work out all the kinks ( and that is highly
unlikely) they will have a new and improved operating system to dump on the
public before it is really ready to use!!!

If you'd mentioned this before, I didn't catch it. (You can access and post
to this newsgroup using your default newsreader and Google Groups, too.)

I'd recommend that you open a free support incident:

Start a free Windows Update support incident request:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527

Support for Windows Update:
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/wusupport

For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in
the United States and in Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft
subsidiary. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with
security updates. When you call, clearly state that your problem is related
to a Security Update and cite the update's KB number (e.g., KB123456).

For more information about how to contact your local Microsoft subsidiary
for security update support issues, visit the International Support Web
site: http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx

For enterprise customers, support for security updates is available through
your usual support contacts.

Good luck.
