Updates keep on failing - don't even start

I have been trying to update Windows for quite some time now and whenever I
choose to download the updates, the downloads never progress. They always
stay at 0% and never download. Then it says that they all fail.

Same with my Automatic Updates. The yellow icon keeps on popping up but the
updates never get downloaded or installed.

I have Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 and IE6.
Please help me ASAP.

Have you tried disabling the firewall software you are using. If that does
not help try disabling your antivirus software as well.

Yes, I don't have a 3rd party firewall and my Windows Firewall is always
switched off. And I've disabled my Norton Antivirus 2003 and still my updates
keep on failing.

What is wrong with it?
