They do know what they are doing. They have bunches of very smart people
working for them. They have designed, developed, and implemented a computer
operating system that runs on about 90% of all personal computers currently
working today. It has to work with literally thousands of hardware pieces
from hundreds of different hardware manufacturers, in dozens of countries
around the world.
Frankly, it's a miracle it works the way it does. It works on an HP
computer, a Dell computer, an IBM, a Toshiba, Sony, Panasonic and countless
custom made computers. It's not perfect. There are issues. The most
recent one involving HP products. This caused problems with my office
system, a Compaq PC, which has an HP printer connected to it.
But I didn't panic. I simply did some research and found out I wasn't
alone. It will be a long time before we have computers that work flawlessly
from the time you turn them on until their components reach the end of their
respective lifespans. Until then, we will have to help them work. Help
your computer work. When you have problems, do some homework, search for
answers, and when you find them, use them.
