Dear Experts,

I've been having these updates failing to be installed each time i start my
machine:

Security Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office System (KB956828)
Security Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office System (KB958439)

The Error message i receive is:
Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 is not installed on the machine.
Setup can not continue.

Why windows is looking for MS Office 2003 since the updates are for 2007?!
Plus I have MS Office 2007 installed on my machine, i am not sure how can i
override these 2 updates and skip to the next cycle. Or how to install them
but let windows detect that i have MS Office 2007 installed.

Thanks.
Elias

Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista SP1) when
posting to this newsgroup.

Was Office 2003 ever installed on the machine (e.g., before you upgraded to
Office 2007 and/or Vista)?

How about Word Viewer 2003 and Excel Viewer 2003?

I dunno, Elias, it sounds like it was a funky upgrade.

Start a free Windows Update support incident request:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527

For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in
the United States and in Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft
subsidiary. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with
security updates. When you call, clearly state that your problem is related
to a Security Update and cite the update's KB number (e.g., KB958439;
KB956828).

For more information about how to contact your local Microsoft subsidiary
for security update support issues, visit the International Support Web
site: http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx

For enterprise customers, support for security updates is available through
your usual support contacts.

Was the Office 2007 an Upgrade version or a full Retail version Elias

Did you install Office 2007 full retail version over the top of Office 2003 by any
chance. If it was an Upgrade then did the Office versions match or were the versions
of Office 2003 and 2007 different
