Hi,

'Problem Reports and Solutions' advises that I download updates for
NOD32 Antivirus.

I have McAfee Security Centre installed, I assume that I don't need
this, am I right?

I don't know why I received this message, I see that it is a a new
feature, perhaps this if why?

Any thoughts?

Thanks

S

Hi,

You're right, you don't need that update. Did you have NOD32 installed at
one point? The system is probably reading it as being out of date. I have
also seen various reports of issues with McAfee's software being read by the
system as the installed AV product.

Someone, at some time, has installed NOD32 antivirus on your computer -
perhaps for only a test. They did not uninstall it or the uninstall was not
completed properly. You are now getting the message to update the
definitions.

Again, YES! It WAS installed upon your system!

At one point you have run the Nod32 (Eset) online AV scanner. When you did this it
then left the Virus definitions which it installs via ActiveX before it runs the
scan and these definition files are is still on your system and most probably in
your Temp file (under some file name )where it deposits it to prior to
running(scanning). It did not remove them upon the finish of the scan and closing
down.

Delete these Temp files on your system and ignore the suggested Update

Go into your registry and do a search for NOD32. I guarantee you there
will be at least one entry. Your system has had NOD32 on it at one time or
another, whether or not you are willing to admit it.

Seems Vista is mis-identifying the AV installed.
Here is a link to the Eset forum with a similar issue.

You might well be right about the misdirection.

I have heard no more from NOD32, and it is not listed in Windows
Update

Best wishes
