where are updates not installed stored on computer? are they deleted if not installed?

Hi,

I was just wondering where the uninstalled updates are stored? I have my
option set to download but not install. If I choose not to install an
update, is it deleted or does it remain saved on my computer somewhere? (in
case I change my mind and want to install it later)

WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download
They reside there for a period of time that is set in the registry and
then are deleted. There *should* be an offer to install downloads in
that subfolder that have not been installed via Automatic Updates IF the
update was not Hidden.
