Updates Not Installing when User Restricted

I run a small network and to protect the machines from improper use I have
set all users to "Restricted User". When I do this it prevents Windows from
updating. I am not bothered about other updates such as Java, but I do think
its important to keep Windows up to date.

Is there any way of allowing Windows Update to run regardless of the users
security level?

Does anyone have any ideas about this? Any assistance would be much
appreciated.

If you mean Automatic Updates, yes. See the ElevateNonAdmins setting in this
document:

<http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc708449.aspx>

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../cc708449.aspx

Or use the Automatic Updates control panel to configure updates to download and
install automatically at a specified time.

The Windows Update web site can only be used by administrators (aka unrestricted
users). If you want to use the web site you'll need to do it yourself, using
the administrator account.
