Hello! A few days ago I noticed that Windows Genuine Advantage Notification
was telling me that my version of XP is no longer up to date, and directed me
towards the Update webpage. I figured it was some new way of notifying
needed updates, but then I noticed that the updates were from 2002 or so!!! I
guessed that maybe they were just never installed and just now popped up?? I
downloaded them yet when they went to install they all failed. I decided to
just ignore what happened thinking it was some fluke occurrence. But then I
tried to install a program that requires SP2 and it said that I didn't have
it! When I clearly do in fact have it. It's in the Add/Remove Programs, and I
have the Firewall and all that good stuff... I go to System Information and
SP2 does not show up. I go to the Update site again and its trying to get me
to install SP1. I uninstalled Windows Genuine Advantage thinking that it was
the culprit but to no avail, the problem still exists. I assume that somehow
maybe through a bad update or some registry mishap, the updates I have on my
computer are not being recognized. I tried to search around for an answer but
found nothing.
Any ideas whats wrong and/or how to fix it? Thanks!
