I keep getting the same request multiple times for the same update. It was
successfully downloaded and install on my system however the update icon in
my system tray will keep appearing and states that updates are ready to
install. The problem is that it is the same update all the time!(KB936181)
Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to repair this problem?
Thank you

Delete the update by going to control panel under add/remove programs. The
update to delete is MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB936181). After removing the update,
reboot. Next, install the update by cllicking the shield. Reboot. The shield
should be gone and the update instaled.

I am also trying to correct this problem / Windows Vista Home Premium.

Using it's version of add/remove, I am trying to remove an update that is
updating repeatedly.

When I click on it, I get this error:

The system administration has set policies to prevent this instillation.
When I click ok, this comes up:
You do not have sufficient access to uninstall MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB941833).
Please contact your system administrator.

See: HOW TO: Enable the build-in Administrator account in Windows Vista
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555910

Log in to the Admin account. Try to uninstall KB941833. It *should*
uninstall now. If it does, reboot afterwards and *ignore* any prompt to
reinstall it.
*** *DISABLE* the Admin account now for security reasons ***
Log back into your User Account.

Download KB941833 from here and *save* it:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

When the download completes close all open programs and browsers.
*Right* click msxml4-KB941833-enu.exe and choose 'Run as adminstrator'.
Follow the prompts to allow it to run.
Reboot afterwards whether prompted to or not.

IF it fails to install properly, see the 'More information about this
update and 'Known issues with this update' here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941833

MS offers no-charge support for getting this Security update installed:

Thank you for responding.
I think I followed the instructions on the first 'how to' site.
Now I ask, how to 'log in to the admin account'???

When I reboot I still see my defaults, me / set as administrator, and guest.
Of course just because I am the default does not mean with Vista that I am
really administrator!

So, how do I 'really' log on as administrator?
Thank you.

Check the above page Tawrena. It includes step by step instructions and
graphics that should allow you to enable the built in Admin account.

Thank you very much. You have hopefully helped me 'fix' this problem!
Now I just hope that tomorrow it doesn't ask me to install the same update
over and over again.
I sure appreciate your help. Good job!

I have the same problem. I tried to delete the udpate and my machine tries
and then freezes. If I try again, it comes back with the message "in the
middle of an update, please wait". Any ideas on how to proceed?
