Where are updates saved?

I have a problem:
I wanted to update my system (after formatting disk and reinstalling
windows). It showed me that I have to install a update called BITS first. So
I started downloading it but something went wrong. I think that this update
downloaded wrong and now I can't install it. When i want to download it one
more time it doesn't download itself but it takes the broken one. So I can't
install it.
I would like to delete a broken package which is on my system but I don't
know where is it saved. Could you tell me where are the downloaded update
packages saved?

If you have WinXP, download and install the BITS update from Microsoft
Download Center instead:
