I am running Windows XP Pro SP2 and IE 7. Yesterday I downloaded and
installed via Automatic Updates the latest IE 7 security update and three
other KB??? updates (I am on my work computer). After rebooting from the
updates I have the following problems:
Cannot copy and paste anything in any capacity
Active windows do not show in taskbar
Inactive windows do not show in taskbar
System restore will not even open
Antivirus software (Trend-Micro) will not load
No on-line virus scan will function
Web pages do not display properly
Cannot download bank info into Quicken
Windows Update page is blank
Lost sound card entirely
Cannot rearrange quicklaunch icons
Cannot rearrange desktop icons
Windows Installer no longer functions at all

At first, IE 7 would not even open but reinstalling it solved that problem.

I tried uninstalling them. They will not uninstall. I tried doing a system
resore but when I opened System Restore it said it was shut off for all
drives. I did not turn it off at any point in the past. After rebooting
again, System Restore would not even open.

Customers in the U.S. and Canada can receive technical support from
Microsoft Product Support Services at 1-866-PCSAFETY. There is no-charge for
support calls that are associated with security updates. When you call,
clearly state that your problem is related to a Security Update and cite the
update's KB number (e.g., KB931678).

In other countries, see http://support.microsoft.com/security > "No-Charge
Support...for virus and other security-related" issues in right-hand menu
for localized contact information.

For more information about how to contact Microsoft for support issues,
visit the International Support Web site:
https://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx

Submit an online request to obtain a Microsoft hotfix:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935195

They will not uninstall in safe mode either. In order to get my computer to
boot in safe mode I had to manually change the boot.ini file. There is no
boot.ini tab in msconfig.

Disk Back-up does not work either, not even in safe mode and neither does
sys restore even in safe mode.

It also happened to me. I just don't understand why no one from MS can
suggest a solution? Google yourself is much better than ask support from MS.

You contacted Microsoft and they had no suggestions?
