Good Day,

I am running three servers. All three are Windows 2003 Enterprise (No
Service Pack) two of which are DC and the other a member server.

I did the normal windows update install and after the install it asks to be
rebooted, which I did or shut down so I can bring my servers back up in
order

After I did the update I went back and found that five of the nine updates
appear again. I checked the event log and add/remove programs and they show
that they were installed, yet when I go to the update site and rescan it
shows that they need to be installed.

I reinstalled again on one of the DC and it did not ask me to reboot, but I
did any way and checked again. Still the same five update came back up.
This happens on both my DC not on my Member server.

The updates that I did is as follows
883939*
896426
897715
893066
Windows installer 3.1v2 (this shows as v2 on the event log)
896428*
896422*
900046*
896358*

The ones with the * are the ones that show up again

If anybody has any ideas or suggestions it would be a great help

Thank You
Adam Raff

Perhaps something is blocking the modules involved from being copied?
(e.g. antivirus or permissions problems)

What does MBSA show? If necessary you could use its HfNetChk
command-line compatibility options

<example>
D:\Program Files\Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer>mbsacli /hf -v -z
</example>

<title>KB320454 - Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA)
version 1.2.1 is available</title>

BTW how are you getting these updates? It seems there are so many
options now that perhaps you should be trying another way. For example,
before I switched to WUv5 I sometimes had to download using both AU
and WUv4 in order for both to understand that I had I installed something.

Good luck

Hi Robert,

That was a good idea about MBSA so I ran it and it came out clean no missing
files except for the ones that I new about (SP1). So the files seem to be
installed. I am getting the files from the Windows Update site and it's V4

Thanks for the insight. At least I know that the updates worked now I need
to know what happened that they are still showing up.
