Updates at shutdown

-------
-- I just formatted my computer and redownloaded Windows XP/SP2. I have
Windows Updates set to "DOWNLOAD AND LET ME KNOW SO I CAN INSTALL WHEN I
WANT". But the updates are always waiting to install when I shut down. I had
the updates set the same way before formatting , and everything worked fine.
Is there some way to change this so I can install when I am ready, or at
least change it to install at restart?

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you perform a new Windows XP
installation or you repair a Windows XP installation

Thanks Pa Bear for your response. The site you gave gives info for XP that
has been reloaded from the CD. I didn't use my disc to reload. I did a
destructive removal and reloaded right from my hard drive. Now, I went to
Windows Update to see what Updates I needed, and was told I needed an update
for Windows Update to be able to get that information. I downloaded the
recommended update and it seems that my problem has been solved. My updates
have been downloaded, and I was alerted so I could install them just the way
I have it set up. Will see if this lasts.

Hallelujah! Maybe they've finally fixed it and we can stop pointing people
to KB943144! (This is a very, very new wrinkle.)
