Updates won't download automatically

Hello everyone,

We are running Windows 2000 Pro. We have recently set our automatic updates
to check dailey at 12 noon and download and install. But it doesnt work. Our
servers are done maually. We recieve the following errors:

Installation Failure

Error Code: 0x80200013
Try to install the update again, or request help from one of the following
resources.

and

Installation Failure

Error Code: 0x80246001
Try to install the update again, or request help from one of the following
resources.

Any Ideals?

I just posted this in another thread, but I'll repeat what just worked for me
here.

In my case, the Background Intelligent Transfer Service could not start, so
Automatic Updates/Microsoft Update couldn't download the files to install.
Via another website I found that BITS will fail if the following Registry key
is missing:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\BackupRestore\FilesNotToBackup

It doesn't have to have anything in it, but it does need to be present. Once
I created that key in the Registry, everything worked.

Hey, there!

THANK YOU!!! I've had this problem with BITS since I bought this
computer. I tried to solve it in a zillion ways! If only I knew the
solution was so easy... :P
