Win XP Pro x64
SP2 Version 2003

I have recently updated to XP Pro x64 and have been trying to get all the
high priority updates. Auto updates is on, but has been sitting at 0% for
three days. I have DL'd my 64 bit network drivers and added the following
udates pages to my trusted sites list:

http://*.update.microsoft.com
http://update.microsoft.com
https://*.update.microsoft.com
https://download.windowsupdate.com
https://update.microsoft.com

This is all the info I currently have. If any additional info is needed
please just ask and how I need to find it. Thanks.

You recently /upgraded/ to WinXP x64 SP2...?

CrystalBall© sez...

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you perform a new Windows XP
installation or you repair a Windows XP installation

sorry bad choice of words, installed. I followed the directions, twice, and
still nothing. If it makes any difference I'm deployed to Afghanistan. Would
that really mess it up? I know when I was in Korea I had no problems with
updates, but then again I'm new to x64, and have a heck of a time getting
driver for my laptop since sony doesn't support 64 bit drivers. other than
this it's running great.

To keep track of things, it helps immensely if you include all of previous
message(s) in your replies to the newsgroup. Also: Do not edit the subject
in your replies either. Thank you.

Still confused here. What does "I have recently updated to XP Pro x64" mean
exactly? Possibilities include:

• You just got a new computer that came with WinXP Pro x64 preinstalled;
or...

• You just upgraded a computer that was running, e.g., WinXP (Home) to
WinXP Pro x64 SP2; or...

• You just got a new computer that came with, e.g., Vista Ultimate x64
preinstalled and you've attempted to downgrade to WinXP Pro x64 SP2.

Other questions:

• Right-click on My Computer | select Properties: What Windows version
is displayed on the resulting General tab (e.g., Windows XP Professional
Edition...Service Pack 2)?

• Start | Settings | Control Panel | Security Center: What status is
reported for (a) Automatic Updates; (b) Firewall; and (c) Anti-Virus?

• What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?

PS: If you're in the armed forces and on a tour of duty in Afghanistan:
THANK YOU, GOD BLESS & HOPE YOU COME HOME SAFE & SOON!!
