I have a new Gateway GM5410E PC running Vista Premium. I have had problems
with video and message from Vista telling me that an updated video driver is
available--lists driver with same version as I had installed, but with newer
date. It is an Intel driver Display adapter Intel G965 Express Chipset. Uses
Graphics Media Accelerator X3000. I looked on Gateway site, but the G965
chipset is newer version than I have installed and I am not sure if it will
install all chipset drivers or what. I do not have a video card
installed--used shared memory. Tech support was no help. They told me to
load a video driver that seems like it is for video card installed which I
did not get with my PC. But they told me not to load any windows driver
either. Do I load the driver that windows says will solve the
problemactually same versions as I already have loaded) or try installing the
updating G965 drivers from Gateway website? I found the version of the audio
driver I have and it seems to be one down from the newest version shown on
Gateway website. I know sometimes when installing Intel drivers it has to be
done in special order--at least with XP so I don't want to mess things up.
Any input would help. I don't want to keep getting messages and having my
system lock up either.
