Updating error code 634.

I am using Windows vista on my home pc (new computer) and keep getting the
message that this update which is "important" has failed. The reason code is
634.
TheMicrosoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1. This is the information for
the update that I am trying to install but has failed a number of times. Any
help would be appreciated. Do I really need this update? Thanks for your
help.
