How long does it take Microsoft to mail the upgrade anytime disk? I bought
my upgrade online on October 30 and still haven't received the disk. Can I
take my order confirmation to a local store and pick up a disk at no further
charge?

My understanding is you download the license and use your existing Vista
disk to do the upgrade.

I don't know how long it takes, I need a disk also if I want to upgrade. I
don't think I will do it.

I should have known something was up when the store discounted the laptop I
bought because it came with Vista, which has proven to be wooden and slow. I
was horrified to learn that a basic function like scanning documents is not
included with Home Premium.

Like an abused child, I came back for more mistreatment and ordered an
Upgrade Anytime disk (Home Premium to Ultimate) well before Christmas but
have not received it yet.

Please help, Dennis

I don't think any Windows OS has included the ability to scan documents.
You have to buy a scanner and install the Vista-compatible software and
drivers.

How much memory is on your computer?

And tell me you didn't spend the money for an upgrade until you were
absolutely sure that doing so would fix your concerns.

Thanks, David:

yes, I know that the OS itself does not scan documents, but I had several
programs running under XP on my old machine that would scan documents into
email, into .pdf form, etc.

Vista has brought on board the drivers for scanners, so that I was trying to
upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Ultimate so that I could scan doc's again
like I did under lowly XP.

SOOO... that brings me back to the issue of my missing Upgrade "Anytime"
Disk (a ludicrous concept, in that the upgrade ain't too "anytime" when I
have to wait for a disk in the snail mail) - which disk I have been waiting
for... for weeks! I have seen info on other sites indicating that the
subcontractor for MS that sends out the disks is totally useless.

I am thinking of a complaint to the Federal Trade Commission.

Thanks, Dennis

Are you saying that the scanner doesn't work at all, or that the "several
programs" you used under XP don't work? Were the programs you used bundled
with the scanner? Maybe you need to visit the scanner manufacturer's
website to obtain updated drivers or updated versions of the software for
Vista?
