How to upgrade Exchange 2003 to Exchnage 2008

Dear All,


I have query with regarding to Exchange 2008. My existing server exchange
sever 2003 running on window 2003 server, I have total 180 mailboxes. My
existing domain controller run on windows 2000 server. Now my management has
asked me to upgrade my domain controller to windows 2008 and exchange server
to exchange 2008.Intergratin of blackberry in windows 2008 and enabling OWA

I would like to know how I should proceed for up gradation for both domain
controller and exchange 2008.I need help like can someone guide me step step
by step scope of work involved in up gradation & how to do this
implementation. I am planning to do all this upgrade implementation on a
vmware server (Virtual servers)

Hello Alexyy,

Is your exchange running on a clustered envrionment, because you use the
clustering NG? Also i assume you mean Exchange 2007, Exchange 2008 doesn't
exist. Or do you maybe talk about SBS/EBS version?

If you are still thinking about this, you better plan this proyect in several
tasks.

First you need to upgrade you domain to windows 2008, there are a lot of
changes between 2000, 2003 and 2008. When that task is up and running, you
network is stable, your machines are doing the logging process and there is
no authentication issues then you can start thinking about exchange.

Second , learn about the different roles involve in exchange 2007 (are you
planning on using VOIP services?)

Then after you are clear what you want, start by selecting the hardware
needed (it has to be 64 bit for exchange)

Where the new exchange 2007 is in place the movement of the mailboxes is the
easy part.
