MSN and Hotmail Plus POP3/SMTP Access
http://liveunplugged.spaces.live.com...90CA!171.entry
Note:
- not all PDA will allow an hotmail/live/msn.com address to be entered inevitably interpreting it as an Http account. In this
case create the account with a
address, enter the balance of the settings, once setup edit/correct the email
address and username fields.
- ensure your Pda's email account setting for Hotmail Plus uses 'Password' authentication instead of some other available
options e.g. NTLM or MD5
- some PDA's do not have a separate incoming and outgoing port setting if so, some have had success by appending the port to
the pop3/smtp server setting (e.g. pop3.live.com:995) - ymmv
- finally SSL encryption is a requirement for Hotmail Plus on both incoming and outgoing servers.
In summary, not all PDA's, especially earlier models are capable...Let us know if your's works or doesn't work by a response(if
possible let us know the PDA make and model number)
