I got a new laptop with windows vist home premium installed, I have been
using it for a while, can I upgrade it to bussiness edition without losing
my data and settings?

Yes you could. But cost effective wise I would recommend just upgrading
the Windows 7 Professional when it becomes available.
You ca upgrade to the Business version with the anytime upgrade.
Right now Windows 7 Pro preorders can be found for about $99

Hi,

No, Vista Home Premium will only upgrade to Vista Ultimate.

If you buy a fax program you will essentially have Vista business.

Business adds Volume Shadow Copy, Offline Files/Folders, Rights
Management Services and Fax and Scan to Home Premium. Also, IIRC,
Business can connect to a Domain, but Home Premium cannot. But it
drops Media Center, Movie Maker, and DVD Maker. Therefore, there's no
upgrade from Home Premium to Business. You have to go to Ultimate,
which has everything.
